The general-purpose grade — around 200× the impact strength of glass, and it will not shatter.
Industry applications
Industry Applications
Used for new energy vehicle charging stations, equipment protective covers, bus shelters, building curtain walls, outdoor advertising signs, daylighting roofs and skylights, and stadium barriers.
Public Canopies and Transit Shelters
For bus shelters and covered walkways, solid PC creates a lightweight canopy with clear or tinted daylighting. Confirm span, support spacing, wind load and fixing method for the installation.

New Energy Vehicle Charging Stations
Solid polycarbonate is used for weather-protective charging-station canopies and covers, combining daylight transmission with impact resistance for outdoor installations.

Equipment Protective Covers
Transparent solid polycarbonate protective covers help isolate moving equipment while retaining clear visibility for inspection and operation.
Solid polycarbonate sheet—also called compact PC sheet—is a single-layer extruded glazing material for projects that need high impact resistance, clear daylighting and dependable outdoor performance. Plastura supplies transparent, translucent, tinted and opaque grades cut to your required dimensions.

Product features
Product Features of Solid Polycarbonate Sheet
High Impact Resistance
High strength and excellent impact resistance make the sheet tough, safe and difficult to break. Its strength exceeds tempered glass, supporting anti-theft and ballistic-resistant applications.
Good Weather Resistance
The sheet does not become brittle at -30°C or soften at 120°C. Its mechanical properties remain stable under harsh environmental conditions.
Flame Retardant
The sheet is rated B1 flame retardant. Polycarbonate has an ignition temperature of 580°C, self-extinguishes when removed from the flame, does not release toxic gas during burning and does not promote flame spread.
High Light Transmission
Light transmission can reach up to 90%, providing transparency comparable to glass.
UV Resistant
A UV-protective layer on the sheet surface helps prevent yellowing during long-term exposure to sunlight.
Sound Insulation
At the same thickness, solid polycarbonate provides 5-9 dB more sound insulation than glass and is commonly used for highway noise barriers.
Minimum order and lead time
Most standard colours and thicknesses can be scheduled from our Jiangsu factory. Tell us the required thickness, width, length, colour, quantity and destination port; we will confirm the suitable grade, MOQ and production lead time.
Questions before you specify
Which thickness should I choose?
Thickness depends on span, fixing method, wind load and whether the sheet is being used as glazing, a canopy or a safety guard. Send us the application and panel size for a practical recommendation.
Do I need UV protection?
For outdoor installations, specify a UV-protective surface. It helps the sheet withstand long-term exposure to sunlight and weather.
Can you supply cut-to-size sheets?
Yes. We can discuss cut lengths and packing requirements for your project or distribution order.
Can I request samples?
Sample pieces of standard grades are available. Please share your courier account or delivery address so we can confirm the most practical option.
Product decision module
This page helps buyers choose solid polycarbonate sheet when impact resistance and fabricated transparent panels matter, and prepare the order specification.
For: It is for engineers, fabricators, and distributors comparing solid PC with acrylic, multiwall, and coated alternatives.
Key variables: Variables are thickness, size, color, UV or coating options, fire and optical requirements, and fabrication route.
Limit: Sheet performance values are not stated without evidence; ask the supplier to confirm raw-sheet properties and fabricated-part tolerances for your order.
Next step: Send application, grade, dimensions, standard, and drawing for engineering review of suitability and tolerances.

Choose solid polycarbonate sheet when impact resistance and formed or cut transparent panels matter for the application. It is not the automatic choice when scratch resistance, optical appearance, fire certification, chemical exposure, span and load, or low cost dominate the decision.
Compare alternatives before deciding: [acrylic](/materials/acrylic/) where surface clarity and machining economics drive the choice, [multiwall](/materials/polycarbonate/multiwall/) where insulation matters, [hard-coated](/materials/polycarbonate/hard-coated/) where scratch resistance matters, [flame-retardant](/materials/polycarbonate/flame-retardant/) where fire requirements apply, and [ESD](/materials/polycarbonate/esd/) where static control matters.
Ask the supplier to confirm raw-sheet properties (impact, optical, thermal, UV, fire, and dimensional data) for the grade, thickness, and test conditions your application needs, and ask separately how fabricated-part tolerances would be reviewed for your drawing and order.
Application examples on this page are selection guidance, not proof of code compliance. Confirm the local code, standard, and installation requirements for your application.

Sheet performance values are not stated without grade-specific evidence and test conditions.
Ask the supplier to confirm raw-sheet properties and fabricated-part tolerances for your order; nothing is assumed until the grade and drawing are defined.
